The story of PROMET CZECH and PROMET SLOVAKIA

Business is about friendship and needs, and this is how PROMET CZECH was founded and how it all began in 1992. Under the name PROCENTO, the company supplied mainly pig iron to steel mills and foundries in Czechoslovakia. Along with business, the company gained long-term experience and built a strong position among its suppliers and customers on the domestic market. Later, the company expanded its activities to neighbouring countries such as Germany, Austria and Poland. At the same time, it also expanded its product portfolio to include coke and ferroalloys.

In 2000, PROCENTO, in cooperation with our Slovak partner, founded the trading company PROMET SLOVAKIA, which, like PROCENTO, supplies raw materials to steelworks and foundries. The company has thus continued to meet the most demanding requirements of foundries and steelworks with a capacity of more than 34 thousand tons of delivered iron, ferroalloys, scrap and fuels to its customers. PROMET SLOVAKIA, s.r.o. is one of the major suppliers of basic metallurgical and foundry materials not only on its local Slovak market, but also on the European one.

PROCENTO was renamed to PROMET CZECH in 2006. It has expanded its services by offering a complete portfolio of products for foundries and steel mills, consulting in the field of these raw materials, financing, technical support, consignment warehouses and material distribution options. It focuses on complete services, for which it uses not only its own services, but also those of other subsidiaries in the PROMET GROUP, such as logistics or knowledge from the production of two foundries and one forge. This position gives us greater flexibility towards our suppliers in material testing thanks to our foundries, and it also creates a position as a strategic partner in supplier-customer relations in relation to large European steel mills. This tradition builds on 20 years of cooperation. Since 2016 PROMET CZECH has expanded its portfolio with the product ferrosulphur, which is applied for alloying of structural and stainless steels and for the production of cast irons.

Currently, PROMET CZECH and PROMET SLOVAKIA have more than 300 customers from foundries and steel mills, who are offered a full range of services from warehousing, distribution, technical support to consignment warehouse services. PROMET CZECH has acquired exclusive representation with DK Recycling und Roheisen and Elkem for the domestic market. The companies aim to be a key, sought after and reliable partner in this production segment.
