Steel Conference 202
On 27 - 28 April 2023, we participated in the traditional steel conference on the theory and practice of steel production and processing - STEELARS 2023.
Here we meet not only colleagues from foundries and steelworks, but also representatives from universities in the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Sweden.
From the Moravian-Silesian Region came Ing. Jakub Unucka, Ph.D., MBA with an interesting lecture "Will we be a steel region after the end of coal mining?" This was followed by a speech by the Vice Dean for Cooperation with Industry of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology of VŠB-TUO, prof. Ing. Jozef Vlček, Ph.D. The block of invited lectures was concluded by Mgr. Filip Hájek, who presented a paper on behalf of the Steelworkers' Union entitled "Decarbonisation of the steel industry: challenges and opportunities". Ing. Jaroslav Pindor, Ph.D. opened questions about the European Green Deal and the way forward in steel production. The lunch was followed by a block of lectures based on the experience and research of individual companies and institutions.
